Sony DCR-TRV350 Replacement Battery Not Working

I recently purchased a Sony DCR-TRV350 camera at a local yard sale. It came with the OEM battery and 3rd party brand charger. I took the camera home and charged the battery for several hours. But when putting the battery in the camera, it will not turn on. Now if I plug in the AC adapter charger, the camera turns on and works perfectly fine. So using multimeter the OEM battery cannot hold the charge. So I bought a 3rd party brand replacement battery from Amazon. Kastar, it shows it is suppose to work for this specific camera. Received the new battery, it has a charge already but when I put it in the camera, same issue. It wont turn on with just battery. It appears its charging, as the light comes on when I connect the charger to the camera. With the old OEM battery the light would come on for a few seconds and go off. But with the new battery, it stays on. So its definitely charging, checking with multimeter confirms this. But the camera still will not power on battery only. Do you think this is the wrong battery? Maybe not strong enough? Or do you think the camera has issues with the battery part? When I have the charger plugged into the camera all the functions work perfectly fine. I can record, I can play back, all the play back buttons work. All the functions work. Just wont run off battery. Any suggestions?

@sillychaoss2988 Sure it could be the battery, it could also be other things. The reason why I say this is because your battery is charging from the camera. That means that the charging circuitry would be ok. What is not working is the power circuit. So, checking the schematic

and what do we find. A fuse! F001 for the Bat Unreg circuit. Oh, look at that. It even controls if your camera "sees" that a battery is connected "Batt Sense". And here we go, blown fuse and that circuit is not working either.

It is past the charging circuit for the battery. That means even if this fuse has blown, your battery will still charge, but no battery power will come to the rest of the camera. Of course that is all very simplified and I am certain there is just so much more to this but check your Fuse and check your Diode D1302.

Now here is another hurdle to overcome. Where is the elusive F001 (hiding like my ever elusive Moose but that is a different story:-)

This is where it always comes in handy when OP add images of their circuit boards with their question. That way we can help and find it as well as marking it on the board. F001 is on the VC-305 board. That is the board where are all the rest of the boards plug into.

@oldturkey03, I just want to chime in to say, "D*mn you're good!" Schematics, Gerbers and traced the circuit down to the specific fuse that's (probably) blown. Excellent work, my friend!

@dadibrokeit thank you Sir.

Are you on some sort of hiatus or just live happening :-)? I actually miss reading your always well formulated answers.

@oldturkey03 I'm around, still working which takes priority over my iFixit activities, but have been moderately active lately.

@dadibrokeit good. Yes, I know all about still working. I figure maybe another year but then No Mas. Time to retire and trying to figure out what to do with the next chapter :-)

Hi @sillychaoss2988 look in the battery port to see if their is corrosion in it. You can clean this out and it might work. As for Battery's being 3rd brand or the wrong part I would look at the reviews on amazon to see if others have used it for your camera.
