@barcodumat76402 What is it you're trying to do? It sounds as though you're under the impression that the memory storage on an iPad is something like an SSD or maybe an M.2 memory stick that can be replaced. If that's the case, I'm afraid I have bad news for you; on iPads all memory is soldered to the motherboard and is not generally considered replaceable.

Technically it can be done, but generally requires specialized skills and equipment that most people - and indeed, most repair shops - do not possess. If you have the skill and knowledge, that's great and we'll be happy to try and help once we have a better idea of your expectations.

But no, you can't just open up your iPad and pop in some bigger storage. If yours does not have enough for your needs, the general solution is usually to buy one that comes with more. Occasionally people will replace the motherboard with one that has more storage, but that has its own set of problems such as paired parts that you have to buy with the motherboard or you lose functionality.

Without knowing what iPad you have, we can't be more specific, but in general it doesn't sound like what you want to do is going to work.

So, what you’re telling me is I’m … … screwed. That I should just accept that and shell out $1000 I don’t have for a new pad.

No.

I have watched enough videos on YouTube to know just how involved swapping out an iPad memory chip is. I have done things in my past that I was told I just couldn’t do. This will be no different.

Thank you for the warning but I suppose I’ll need to go somewhere else for help.

@barcodumat76402 I'm sorry if I came across telling you you're screwed; I'm saying that most home DIY-ers are not going to have the skills and equipment to do this sort of delicate surgery and that for them, just selling their old iPad and buying a replacement would be a better option.

If, however, this is something you want to tackle, then more power to you! There are a lot of people on this site who are intimately knowledgeable about microsoldering and iPad repair who can probably help.

One thing you may need to clarify is whether or not the memory chip is tied to the motherboard, and what considerations need to be taken into account with regard to programming the chip before or after transplantation. I know that on some devices it is not possible to replace the NAND memory due to those kind of restrictions, so you'll want to verify if it's even possible before you invest a lot of time and money into it.
