GPU powers on but has no video output

I built a friend a PC, worked perfectly before I shipped it, GPU (6950 XT as per the photo)

was damaged during shipping and he was unsuccessful with insurance/RMA so I'm looking at how I can fix it. The only physical damage is to the tab that locks the GPU into the Mobo, but this in itself isn't always a problem from what I've read, my best guess currently is that some of the traces from the PCB are shorting in the damaged area. Is this fixable? I work in engineering and have a very good selection of tools available.

@oreocrusher sure it would be fixable, but it sounds like that the failed traces have not yet been identified. Verify that your graphics card is a AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT. then post some well focused pictures of the PCB and the damaged area, with your Question. Both sides please. Hopefully we can identify any damage or at least give you some hints as to where this may have failed.

Thanks, hopefully the attached pictures are useful. I don't think traces themselves are damaged, from what I can see there are no distinct traces in the affected area, I 🤔 no instead different layers of the sandwich are shorting, but very much not my wheelhouse, so happy to be wrong! Thanks for the help

@oreocrusher Yes, it does not look like that any traces are involved. Maybe time to look at the rest of your graphics card. Remove the fans and see if there is anything obvious.

Is it fair to assume all copper layers in the board are ground planes so it shouldn't matter if different layers are touching? Are there any bits I should take particular care over whilst disassembling?

完成的

@oreocrusher well, yea and no, depends on where they are touching. If there are not traces, you could try and "clean" that area up by creating a sharp edge at the fracture vs. the overlap that you have going on now,

I was thinking this, bit of dremeling seems like a good starting point, thanks for confirming
