How do I fix my 80 gb Classic with white screen?

While working on replacing a screen from my old Ipod classic, I tried to plug it into my computer to make sure it still works. The screen was completely white, and the Ipod didn't respond to anything. I had just replaced the screen and everything. sometimes the computer recognizes it and says I need to restore it, I've done that and then nothing happens. Sometimes my computer won't even recognize it. Could this be due to a water damaged hardrive or mother board?

Right now it sounds like your logic board, mostly because of the intermittent failure to be recognized. If you are certain that your display is working, check on the connector, make sure that the clip is down and that the cable is inserted. It does have a tendency of going in crooked. Check the dock connector on the logic board as well, make sure that all the pins are in straight, no broken pins and no debris within the connector. As for your HDD, you could try to see if your iPod, if and when it is recognized, will function in disk mode. That way you can check your drive with your computer OS. Also try to place your iPod into diagnostics mode, and see what shows up. Good Luck.

I've got an 80 gb ipod water damage. When I try to charge it and see if it works etc. displays low battery with a bit of red color with the exclamation point etc. The first one I got said same thing so I replaced the battery, easy fix. This one eventually tries to time out and has charge so then it tries to turn on. but the screen goes white then eventually the battery screen turns on again. Seems like the hdd is trying to turn on but fails due to insuficent power I'd like to this this one is the power also. meaning replace battery. There is a fix if it's available but don't go opening anything you never done before look it up or something before you just jump right in and tear it apart because literally that's what you are doing.. also making it more complicated than it should be. easier said than done.
