@asimalatefy couple of things you do want to check first. Make sure that you have either no or an approved screen protector on your phone. Some of the cheaper aftermarket once can actually prevent your fingerprint sensor from working. Next you want to make sure it is not software related. Make sure your phone has been upgraded to the latest firmware version.

Then I would clear the cache

• Turn off your phone
• Press and hold the volume up button and the Bixby button or side button. If your phone doesn’t have a Bixby button, hold the volume up button. Then press and hold the power key as well.
• When the Android logo appears on the screen, release all three keys
• Press the volume down button to select wipe cache partition
• Press the power button
• Press the volume down button to select yes
• Press the power button again
• Your cache will now be wiped. Once finished, Reboot system now will be selected
• Press the power button to restart your device

Next you want to try and Delete and re-insert fingerprints

• Go to Settings.
• Scroll down and find Biometrics and security.
• Tap on Fingerprints.
• Type in the PIN, password, or pattern when asked.
• Delete any old fingerprints. Select the prints to remove. You can select all by touching and holding a fingerprint and select All from the upper-left corner.
• Tap on Remove located in the top right corner. Confirm your action.
• Register your fingerprints again by tapping on Add fingerprint.

If none of that works, you may need to replace the fingerprint sensor flex. It is widely available at many online stores like this (example only and not an endorsement)
