m18x lcd screen replacement
Anyone done a disassembly of the m18x display assembly to change the 18.4" lcd?
I am looking for a guide to take off the top cover so I get to the LCD panel itself.
That item is model 0HGT3J.

Here's the service manual for the laptop. Go to p.20 (of 64) to view the procedure to remove the display assembly from the laptop base.
Here's a video that shows how to remove the cover from the display assembly so that access to the LCD panel is possible.
Hopefully this is of some help.

Thanks for the hints but I have already gone through the processes described in the manual and that video. Dell/Alienware do not have the display assembly anywhere. I have found some possible location for the plain LCD panel and have taken off the back cover but need to take off the top cover so looking for help on what screws I need to take out to release the LCD panel.
Maybe I got it wrong but I thought that the video shows the cover being removed from about 7:49 minutes in.
Not sure re Dell but with a lot of other laptop makes usually there's an LCD make and model number on the back of the panel itself or even a part number.
Most LCD screens are made to order by specialist panel makers and not by the manufacturer of the device (except perhaps Samsung, LG, Toshiba and Sharp).
If there is any such information on the back of the panel, search online for either the panel's "make and model number" or "part number" as sometimes it can be used in other devices and may not be listed by the seller as compatible with the your model as they may not know that it is, especially if it is a working used one taken from another device.
@jayeff Thanks for that. I have the model number as quoted in my question but the part number is partially covered by the top cover so need to remove that.
If there are no guides available I will use trial and error to work out the process myself. I just wanted to save myself from doing that.
