I have a BOSE Wave AWR1-2W from 1993 and the sound is sounds good but the volume is pretty low seeming even when turned up to max volume. Is there a demonstration mode that can be turned on for this model that I can turn off? The speakers are presumably fine as there is no buzzing or anything. Seems like it might be a volume setting. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I’m sorry to hear that your BOSE Wave AWR1-2W has a low volume problem. According to some online sources, this model does have a demonstration mode that can be turned on or off by pressing and holding the “Play Mode” button for five seconds. When the demonstration mode is on, the display will show “DEMO ON” and the volume will be fixed at a certain level. When the demonstration mode is off, the display will show “DEMO OFF” and the volume will be . You can try this method to see if it solves your problem.

@oldturkey03 for questions i dont know the answer to I use AI and it performs some web searches for answers and manuals and for ones I do know i check with the ai first and then answer
@kingofspades so you are just another fancy Google. Do you think this is conducive to what this website is trying to accomplish? Do you realize what we are doing here? There is nothing wrong with using links etc. but there is everything wrong with doing it the way you are. There is Zero (0) individualism and Zero (0) technical thinking involved. It does nothing but regurgitate other people's knowledge. How about you try to answer questions by using your own mind, thoughts, knowledge first? There is a time and a place for AI but it's not on here, not yet!

and considering your a veteran i need not remind you. I do not wish to argue or anything but if i can make an attempt to help someone in anyway i can i will do it. if it means i have to ask an ai or even do my own research on things ive never come across i will do it.
@kingofspades :-) you are absolutely right. You do not have to remind me of what the mission is. You are using your AI on pretty much any Question, even those that are years old and already had valid answers etc. This is more than just "an attempt to help someone in anyway i can i will do it" You see, that is the issue with AI. It should be used in an ethical and responsible way and not be applied to wherever one feels like. For maximum transparency I would expect that users of AI let others know that they used AI for the answer (on every answer).
Ultimately, I am just an old guy that still uses things like books, paper diagrams and actual hand tools to do repairs. I use my NI and experience instead off somebody's AI to answer questions.

@alex015 do you have this option on your Bose:
On the remote control, press and hold the Alarm Setup button until -SETUP MENU- appears on your Wave system display
Press and hold the Preset 1 button until -DEMO SETUP- appears

Thanks very much for this. I saw the set up menu instructions for other models but it doesn't seem to be an option on this model.
Still trying to toy with other buttons to see if I can get any kind of menu to appear.

@alex015 if it is not a menu issue etc. then the issue could most certainly be on the circuit board. I believe that your board has the Volume control IC U403 that is responsible for the volume. take a look around that and see if there are things that look well, odd :-) iFixit does allow you to ad images to your Question.
