@jga you are not giving us enough information here. You would need to take it apart and try to find out where the "smoke" is coming from. For now, use the service manual PcCR 1417 ACL4 System AA095042 00 SM
Use that to disassemble your device. Look for anything "odd" looking like charred or missing components etc. Post a couple of good pictures of what you find, with your Question. that way we can see what you see.
