Vizio TV Troubleshooting: No Standby Power

Vizio E55-C1. No standby power, no picture, no sound.

Problem occurred last summer and am just now getting around to attempting to fix it. Bad storm blew a transformer near our house. After repairs TV worked fine for a few hours. Turned it off and never came back on.

Utilizing a multimeter, I have determined:

-Power from cord to power board

-Continuity through the fuse

-12V Power to main board

If I am reading the key right, Pin 8 should be my 5V standby but I have no volts. There also isn't a wire in the connector for the 5V pins...

No obvious signs on damage on any of the boards.

Based on all my research, I am leaning toward replacing the power board but am hoping for some direction before I start throwing parts at it.

@ronaldbresett strange that you have the 12V but not the stby voltage. This"There also isn't a wire in the connector for the 5V pins..." is even stranger :-) It does sound like the power board being the issue but lightning strikes most commonly takes out the main board. Post a couple of good pictures of your boards with your Question. That way we can see what you see and hopefully we can have a good outcome of this repair.

I'm hoping I've missed where the standby voltage should be at but don't see any other low voltage pins labled.

@ronaldbresett check the PS On pin. Check as is and then check when you try to turn the power on.

PS On has 2.99V constant. Also checked the BL- Off / On Pin 0.09V.

Pressing the power key did not change voltage readings

@ronaldbresett 3V is pretty normal for that circuit and usually when the set turns on, it goes high for a short time. It actually sounds like your power board is not doing to bad. Keep in mind that it is your main board, that tells the power board to turn the rest of the TV on (simplified of course). The 5V on your power supply could very well be for another Vizio TV model. They use a hodgepodge of parts and are sometimes tough to follow.

On your T-Con board (the blue board) there should be a fuse labeled F101. Can you check that a. for voltage and b. for continuity?

OK Continuity jumps around from. 1 to -.70ish. F101 bounces around 0.5V.

Didn't think of that (being used for another model). So glad I didn't pull the trigger on the power board already. Was thinking I was missing something with the Standby Power.
