wifi/bluetooth replacement instructions

Hello-

I suspect that my wife's iPhone 13 Mini's wifi antenna is bad. It will occasionally show the WAP but then it disappears. It is NOT greyed out as in other posts.

I've found the part to order here on iFixit but I cannot find detailed instructions on how to replace it. Can someone point me to a how-to article or even video? Thanks.

Not sure if that is the problem but if you want to, you can give it a try!

The Wi-Fi antenna is located under the earpiece speaker (top left corner).

The Bluetooth antenna is located in between the battery and the two cameras.

  1. Follow this guide: here but do not remove the Taptic Engine!
  2. Remove the metal bracket on the top of the earpiece speaker.
  3. Unscrew the two Phillips screws securing the earpiece speaker into the housing.
  4. Unscrew the two tri-wing screws securing the Wi-Fi antenna into the housing as well.
  5. Carefully remove the Wi-Fi antenna making sure to not damage anything close to it!
  6. Unscrew the three Phillips screws securing the camera bracket.
  7. Disconnect the camera flex cable (Top left of battery)
  8. Remove the cameras. Do not directly touch them!
  9. Disconnect the Bluetooth antenna’s flex cable (To the left of the camera flex cable)
  10. Remove the five Phillips screws securing the Bluetooth antenna to the housing.
  11. Remove the Bluetooth antenna.
  12. Follow the steps in reverse, making sure to install the new antenna(s) and (hopefully) install new display adhesive to keep the phone water resistant and any other adhesive that you may have removed during the repair.

Thanks @afixer44321 !
I really really don't want to open this thing up, but at this point I'm willing to try. I've rebooted the phone multiple times, reset network settings, etc. - nothing has worked. It's been like this for a good 6 months or so.

I've replaced a good 40+ screens and another 20 batteries over the years (teenage daughter and friends) so I'm quite OK with working under the glass. That said, I know from experience that it's always good to avoid opening a phone unless you absolutely have to as you always run the chance of causing more damage.

If you have any other thoughts or suggestions to resolve this issue - I'm all ears and eyes. Thanks again for the post!

Price up a new screen too as you’ll probably break the old one trying to remove it. I know, I work in a shop with the correct removal tools and they are still a panic inducing nightmare. I think apple made them thinner to stop people trying to fix them themselves.

After a bit more research, I found that the iOS 16.1 update may have to do with this issue, as people started complaining about the same issue after updating to 16.1, and they posted about the issue all 6 months ago, I also have had the same issue every 5 hours or so. So I don’t think this issue is about the phone, it seems to be Apple’s fault, like basically always with the 16.x updates. So if that is the issue, then I don’t think you can do much about that except bring it up to Apple and maybe if enough people are complaining, then they realize that they should be focusing on bugs more than cool features and actually fix the problem.

@afixer44321 Looks like her phone was at 15.x, now upgraded to 16.x. No change. She's functional with 4g/5g...so I may just ride this one out until I'm forced to act. Thanks for the suggestion for a new screen. Return policies are a must for the individual at-home repair guy like me.

I swear that her phone and her work toilet are meant for each other...
