Chromebook hinge cover broken

I've had my Chromebook since June 2021, and a few days ago the plastic around the screen on the lower left (I think this is called the "hinge cover") broke, the bottom part detached from the screen (only at the left, not the entire thing) and eventually cracked completely off from the left side of the plastic. I didn't drop it, this just happened gradually I guess. At first I thought it was just cosmetic, but just now the screen flashed black for a second when I moved the computer - it isn't happening every time, in fact it hasn't happened again since, but I'm sure the issue will progress if I don't do something.

This is what I can see inside the plastic (if I angle the screen so it sticks out enough):

My question at this point is, if I made sure those little white parts on the outside were aligned right and pressed in real good, then used glue or putty or something to seal the plastic back up, would that prevent any more screen flashing or other issues with the screen itself? Can I even use those things on my computer? I don't know if the picture was clear enough, but I should be able to glue it without affecting the hinge.

Hello,

The screen flashing is likely caused by the ribbon cable not being properly seated.

This video shows how to fully replace the screen, you're just looking for the ribbon cable shown at roughly the 1:34 mark, once that's fully seated, your screen flicker should be resolved and you'll be able to repair the hinge in any way you see fit!

If that doesn't do the trick let me know and we'll keep trouble shooting!

Thank you for your answer. I haven't taken action yet (nervous), the state of the hinges has gotten worse (screen and keyboard only connected by wires at this point), but it's only flashed black one time since then, no matter what I do to it - it was when I was peeling at the bezel trying to tentatively get it all the way off, it lasted for like 5 seconds, and the Youtube video I had playing with sound PAUSED (not froze, actually paused) when it happened, making it seem like it was something the computer "did on purpose" and not just the screen failing. :/
