Internall HDD not showing in HDD list-when restart says uninitialized

Hi there

I really have a big problem, I have an internal storage HDD 3TB which was fine until a couple of days before

At some point when I restarted my imac it disappeared and the disk utility announced me that a hardrive is uninitialized

I tried everything to remount the drive back but no success:

erase

first aid

reinstall OS

different recovery software

etc.

The disk utility list shows an internal drive ST3000DM001 Media 4.14 GB

and in the terminal there is a disk0 showing as a 4.1Gb

(I listed below the content )

I tried to erase / format this ST3000DM001 Media but I get the error:

"unable to write to the last block of the device

operation failed"

I am really at a loss, is there any chance to recover this HDD? I can't take it easily out, as the iMac has the LCD glued to the body :(

see below the available info

Thank you in advance for help!

Try erasing the the disk using Disk Utility and then select the Security Options box and do a secure erase. This will generally inspect every block and map out the bad ones in the directory and make the disk usable again.

I tried, but it gives me an error

Plus I don’t want to securely erase, will lose the data 🙁

Sadly, you really don’t have much of a choice here. Reformatting the drive is your last hope. It’s possible the drive failed.

I was afraid I would get this answer

I guess I need to take the HDD out and try to reconnect with a different cable and try recover data!?

@marinaxx - Just try reformatting using an external drive which is setup as a bootable drive running the same if not newer macOS version. If that fails then open the system up as at that point you more likely need a new drive.

@danj

I am running High Sierra

I will make a bootable drive with the latest OS and give it a try

If not I have no choice than to take the drive out and try a different approach

Thank you
