1 Which Upper Case Part
iFixit has guides to replace the Upper Case (keyboard) for the 17" models divided into to types: for the 1.0~1.5 gHz models and the 1.67 gHz Hi Res model. But that leaves out the 1.67 GHz non-Hi-Res model, the one that came out in January 2005. I believe that the parts are the same for both models when comparing photos of them online. But the vendor who sells the part I think I need says it's only for the January 2005 model. Does anyone know if these keyboard/palm rest assemblies are the same for these two 1.67 GHz models?

Thank you so much oldturkey03, that is great to know. I am wondering however if the Top Case Assemblies might still be interchangeable. The connection cables look the same and the only thing they connect are 1) keyboard, 2) trackpad and 3) power switch - whereas the only differences in the two machines are 1) higher resolution screen, 2) dual layer optical drive vs single layer and 3) motherboard has slightly faster RAM, but nothing else is different and the Top Case Assembly has only the above functions. I may not be able to find the 922-6977 for a reasonable price (I don't need any of the other parts) but I have found the 922-6594 for a reasonable price. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

@shiningprince I would just go for it and give it a try. I mean the worst that could happen is that it does not quite match. Go for it and let us know
