Sounds like the screen is going bad. How old is the TV? If its less than a year old contact Samsung about it. If its more than a year old you could still try to contact them however they may not help you, which means you would have to get a new TV. Is there a warranty on it?

No longer under warranty. I think I will be enjoying it until it really goes as I then will need to invest in a new TV.

Sean McInnis sounds like issues with the LCD drivers. That board is part of the LCD panel (for all intent and purpose since it is connected with some very small ribbon cables) Now, the LCD driver gets its signal from the T-con board so you may need to measure certain voltages on the driver board. Post some good pictures of your panel as well as the boards with your question. That way we may see something more detailed to further assist you. If it is the driver board and if it did fail you may need to find the schematics for this board to repair it. That by itself could be a daunting task. If you feel that is above and beyond what you want to do, enjoy your TV for as long as it works. The reason why it does it when it is cold is most likely a colder solder joint. It connects after the components warm up and expand.

Thank you all for all the information. I think the TV is going as it's now 13 years old. Once it really goes I will be recycling and buying a new one.
