How can I power of device without screen?

I want to replace the screen on a huawei y7 2019 but cant power it off because the screen does not work. Can I take the battery out of the device while it's on or will that corrupt its data? Or is the another way?

No problem to open the device and disconnect the battery when it's on. When you remove the back cover and the motherboard cover you don't touch the motherboard. Anyway try this, connect the device to charger then press and hold for 5 sec. the volume down and power on buttons.

Hi @freefix ,

Not sure if this will work as you don’t know if it has shutdown but perhaps this link may help.

If no good then disconnecting the battery may be the only option.

You may lose data for any apps that are open at the time (but how do you know which ones?) so hopefully you have previously backed up the phone to the cloud or a PC so perhaps not too much is lost.

If the Android OS data is corrupted then at least you can do a factory reset (aka hard reset) once the screen has been replaced which will restore the phone back to its factory default condition, (all data is lost, but maybe was lost anyway) as normally the OS recovery data is unaffected by power problems. Usually the systemboard has to fail first. Hopefully you remember the Google User ID and password if you have to do this (if the phone has a Google account tied to it) as you will need it to access the phone after a factory restore.
