My washer used to make a noise when it stopped spinning and would stop very quickly. Now it just keeps going untill it slows down to a stop. The part that spins also moves around while it's washing like it's loose. What causes this? Is there some kind of breaking system that needs replaced?

@janeelaine88 that depends on what model your washer is. Most of those actually have a brake/clutch and if the lining is starting to wear you get symptoms like your washer.
