Hi @handsomedahn ,

Try a power refresh and check if that resolves the problem.

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop, which will help you to do this.

a. Disconnect the charger from the laptop if connected.

b. Remove the main battery pack from the laptop (see p.87 of the manual),

c. Disconnect the backup battery from the motherboard (see p.107 of the manual to view the necessary pre-requisite steps to remove the battery). When you have the battery disconnected, measure the voltage of the battery. It is a non-rechargeable Lithium coin cell type battery with leads attached. It has a life span of about 5-7 years. If it measures <2.6V DC replace it. If it needs replacing search online using the part number (02K7078) only to find suppliers that suit you.

d. Press and hold the laptop’s Power button operated for 30 seconds and then release. This will dissipate any remaining charge in the motherboard and reset the BIOS back to its’ factory default settings.

e. Reinstall the back up battery (or new replacement battery) and reassemble the laptop i.e. reverse the procedure in Step c.

f. Reinsert the main battery pack.

Connect and switch on the charger and try to start the laptop and check what happens. There may be a message about the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset. After it has been corrected it won’t appear the next time the laptop is started.
