Hello, I am trying to replace a battery on the moto z play phone. I got the back off and screen separated. But can not get the little screw out to remove the metal piece holding the battery cord in place. Anyone have a suggestion on removing stripped screws? I have tried the rubberband trick but no luck.

Have you tried other screwdriver bits of different sizes and shapes? If that does not work you can carefully drill into the screw till the head comes off with a very tiny drill bit (see pin vise from here or amazon). Of course with this method you will have to replace the screw.

That was not pretty. I ended up drilling the screws and doing my best to break off the top….which was challenging. I tried the rubberband trick and I think they were to far gone. The super glue did not hold and would just pop off. And then I even tried soldering the screw……nothing.
Anyway, I got the screw heads off and was able to move on.
Thank you for your responses and help. I greatly appreciate it. I am new to this….so lots of trial and error.

Hi Melissa,
A couple of options with stripped screws, drilling is an option as Josh mentioned, but first, to drop a little super glue into the screw, then pop the driver in, wait a few mins then twist out.
