Maximum HDD size supported by MacBook Penryn

I'm looking at buying the 750 GB 7200 RPM Seagate SATA Hard Drive Upgrade Kit for my MacBook but I read that the maximum size supported by this model is 500 GB.

Is it true? Does it mean I need to partition the HDD? Or it's supported and I won't have any issue?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I doubt that; 500GB was probably the biggest drive available at the time that was written. 750GB should be fine, one of my favorite Mac upgrade sites lists that 750GB drive as an option for your exact model.

It's not the size of the GBs of the drive but the physical size limitation. You'll need to stay with a 9.5 mm standard drive. The new 12.5 mm drives and larger will not fit in your machine. I would go with a 7200 rpm drive rather than a 5400. Here's a couple of good ones:

I'd take the seagate over the western digital any day, personally. WD drives fail too often.
