New Battery Not working
Replaced screen and battery since it was open. After installing the new battery, Surface Pro 3 says no battery installed.
If your computer is not detecting the new battery, try taking it back out. Make sure all the contacts on the battery are clean, as well as all the contacts on the inside of the computer. Put the battery back in, and make sure that it is in securely.
Also, if the battery is defective or is not one that the manufacturer recommends, that may be the cause of the problem.

I have done all that was mentioned twice and it still does not detect the battery. Before dis-assembly everything was working other than the crack in the screen! Is this a Microsoft battery? Is this an approved Microsoft battery.

If you cleaned all your contacts and everything is secure, then the problem may be with Windows itself. You may need to download a recovery image and do a clean install of Windows. The link from Microsoft is below:

Try updating, refreshing, and resetting the device first to make sure those options won't help, however.

Sounds like a bad battery. Does the original one still work? If so, I’d return the new one and get another.

Did you read my last note on this program? The batteries are not bad, they are probably not Microsoft batteries…

If he removed the original battery without damaging it beyond repair, he may have just made history as the first person to do it.

There is no such thing as "genuine MS" replacement parts for Surface tablets. Even if you send an "in warranty" Surface, MS doesn't fix it. They just send a replacement. According to MS, Surface tablets can't be "fixed" so they don't sell replacement parts.

I regularly remove Surface batteries without damage, all it takes is heat, IPA, practice, and patience. It is true that you can't buy brand new Surface batteries.

Lew, I don’t know if you have read my previous problems and apparently this may be a bigger issue that anticipated, however, I was getting the message on the screen when booting, that there is no battery present also the battery indicator was showing battery with a line through it. I removed the terminals again, 4th time, cleaned everything and reseated the ribbon. Now it is showing the battery is at 100% which it never showed that, and at the bottom still indicates that there is “No battery detected”. That being the case, why is it showing the battery fully charged? I believe there is a chip in the battery similar to iPhones, that if it isn't an OEM battery, it will not work, not positive on that, But it seems that the battery companies for Microsoft are very mysterious and although they say that this is a Microsoft battery, there is no indication or emblem from Microsoft on it. It’s in Chinese and unfortunately I can’t read it. Do you have any other suggestions.

Lew I just ordered one from England, no telling how long it will take to get here! I have another SP3 to change a battery out and a SP2 for battery. This is my first one and don’t want to destroy 2 more unless I get it down pat!
Thanks for your info and will like to report back so keep watching. and thanks again.

You have made no mention of the shim/bridge. Do you know what that is? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bridge-c...
