It won't power up, or light up anything when plugged in.

It definitely needed a new battery, yet would that cause it to not turn on even when plugged in? More likely bigger issues, am I right? Any other reasons this may occur? I would like to save it. Thank you.

You have either:

● 17" MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo (Early 2009)

● 17" MacBook Pro 2.93 GHz Core 2 Duo (Early 2009)

This is a very desirable machine. Don't give up on us helping you to get it running. El Cheapo batteries are just that, don't do it even if you are tempted.

Follow this guide MacBook Pro 17" Unibody 电池更换 remove the battery, then press and hold the power button for a good 2 minutes to make sure the system is fully discharged. Now plug in your MagSafe charger and try to start your system. Let us know what you hear or see.

Well I tried removing the battery and starting it without it. That was a no go, on the simple fix. Thanks anyways Dan.
