Cable Between Power Button and Volume Buttons Broke

I opened my ipod nano and successfully repaired the missing nipple on the power button, but in the process I broke the cable between the power button and the volume button. The power button works fine now, but the volume buttons don’t function. Is there any fix for this, or am I screwed?
