My tv will power on with a distorted pic and a loud static sound (even with vol off) then power off like it is resetting. It will eventually be alright until you change the input or turn off. When it first started it would do this for maybe a min or so. Now it will do this for over 30 mins.

Jules Ggirl this will depend on the model of your TV. This could be a power supply or main board (most likely) issue. We need to know the model and need to know what you have checked.

Whether you can fix this TV depends on your knowledge of electronics… on your ability to solder but also to be able to remove components competently then replace them .
Their are high voltages generated inside a TV the primary side of a SMPSU (switch mode power supply) will kill even the experienced dabbler.
