Screen turns itself off while audio continues to play

I bought this TV 4 years ago from Sam’s Club. It is a 48” LED 1080P, 60Hz HDTV, model #613380. It has served me well - until this week.

While watching this TV, the screen suddenly goes black but the audio continues.

I can turn the TV off for awhile, then turn it back on and the picture appears. A few minutes later the screen goes black again.

I use two HDMI ports for input - one for DishNetwork TV and one for blu-ray player. This problem occurs in both ports, so it must be a problem that is more central to the TV overall.

I’m wondering if it can be repaired for a reasonable price, or should I just throw it away and replace it. (If I have to replace it, it won’t be another Sanyo!)

Also, I visited the Sanyo website, found the link to “support,” and was taken to a totally blank page. Absolutely NO content. Apparently Sanyo doesn’t want to know about its problems or its unhappy customers.

@drnogerms you have a few possibilities here. As before stated it is possible that this is a backlight array issue. If you can make out silhouettes etc. while shining a flashlight at an angle against the screen, it is your backlight. Either the power board does not supply the voltage needed or the backlight led’s have failed. If you cannot see anything with the flashlight beam, it is possible that this is a T-con board/Main board issue. Bottom line, you’ll have to remove the back from your TV and take a look at all the boards and wiring etc. Check for obviously damaged components like bulging, leaking capacitors etc. Post some images of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see.在已经存在的问题里加入图片

It sounds like your backlight may have gone out. I suggest trying to shine a flashlight at an angle and see if you can spot any image at all.

Sanyo customer service does have a phone number, but due to spam filters I can’t post it here.

In my opinion, economic viability of repair is slim to none considering the age of your TV. prices have dropped quite a bit in the last 4 years.
