Click wheel intermittently not responding

I recently installed a new logic board and click wheel into my iPod. Now when I use it, the scrolling part of the click wheel frequently does not work. It seems to happen mostly when the hard drive is spinning, but is prone to happen at other times. Usually, it'll be unresponsive for a few seconds at a time. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

chetkincaid, I do those repairs frequently, but have not experineced this particular type of error. Check all your connections and connector. make sure that the click wheel connector is properly seated and that the clip that holds the cable is properly engaged. Check ALL your cables including the HDD for proper allignment and corrosion/debris in the connector. Pay particular attention to the HDD cable since that failure can cause a similar, but not identical error. If that does not work and you have tried to reset and to restore your iPod, try to get your ipod into diagnostic mode and check the ckick wheel diagnostics. You get it in diagnostic mode by turning off the “hold switch” Press and hold “Menu” and “Select” buttons together for 10 seconds to reset the iPod. The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold both the “Back” and “Select” buttons at the same time. You may have to try a couple of times since it can be tricky to get the timing right ;-) Then select the wheel test. This option has two tests, Keytest and Wheeltest. Push each button once to pass the Keytest. The Wheeltest just gives you a coordinate of where your finger is on the Click-Wheel. Make sure that all of the coordinates can be reached by your wheel. Worst case scenario, you may have to replace your click wheel once more.
