Unresponsive to click wheel and center button actions.

I have tried the recommended actions on Apple's web site. With a fully charged battery,

(5 Rs - Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore.) I did this at least 1000 times.

I even went one step further and fully discharged the device and then recharged, repeated the 5 Rs. (Iteration 1001)

All of this is not successful.

All that the click wheel & center button will do is restart the device, which says to me that the hardware is working.... there is a software error in the "HOLY GRAIL" of Apple software..... HEAVEN FORBID THAT APPLE HAS A SOFTWARE ERROR!!! They will never admit it until there is ice in a certian region of the universe.

How to go beyond here??? Trash can???

Don, the click when is actually a very complicated multipurpose piece of hard ware and just because a few functions remain does not mean that it is not in need of being replaced. I highly doubt that it is the software that is at fault here. Personally I would disassemble the Nano, replace the click wheel as well as the battery (since it must be at the end of its life) and clean the cables and connectors of all debris and corrosion.
