Missing Touch screen Driver

Before you rant about why I chose the G570 instead of the G400, i can't seem to find it sorry.

A few months ago I was happily using my touchscreen on my Lenovo g400s touch. Then it began slowly deteriorating until the driver disappears altogether. I can't use my touchscreen anymore and I need it for an upcoming project. Can anyone give me advice on how to get it back. I already tried the restarting but it still hasn't shown up.

A 'driver' refers to a piece of software to 'connect' the device to the computer. The mousepad has a driver, The screen has a driver. Drivers do not deteriorate. Your touch-sensor-panel inside the laptop lid, has failed for who-knows-why. This is a job for a technician.

Maybe someone familiar with this Lenovo, can tell us how-to-diagnose the problem. Please explain how/when you first noticed this, and how it got worse, to total failure.

Hi @talia8pie ,

What OS is installed in the laptop?

When you say "disappears" is it still listed in Device Manager under either Mice and other pointing devices or Human Interface devices?

If so what is the status of the touchscreen (red cross. yellow exclamation mark or no indication, right click on device listing and select properties - general tab - status)?

Drivers don't stop working unless there was updates and something broke for it.

Check device manager> Human interface Devices. Look for something with touchscreen. Probably would be listed like HID Compliant touch screen.

If it is there it sees it. If not and there isn't any unknown devices then you might have had hardware that failed on you.

Also make sure you don't have it disabled. There can be a button on the keyboard with your F1-F12 keys that disable it as well.
