Drip stop light prevents brewing

I have a ninja coffee bar, had it for 2 years. The drip stop light lit while brewing, and wouldn't brew at all. I replaced the drip tray, and went away with one brew. Light returns. Seems to occur with unbalanced surfaces too, and whenever we slightly move it or shake it, the light MAY go off and brew for a bit. Has anyone taken one apart and disabled the drip stop sensor, and if so, how?

Our drip stop magnet had also rusted out. Luckily we had a similar style magnet left over from some project in the past. Gently heated the plastic and inserted replacement magnet, then bent the plastic back over the top to retain it in place. Seems to have fixed the problem. Alternate solution is to cut some small pieces off the back of refrigerator magnets and stacking them in the hole where the original magnet rusted away.

Did you use a ball bearing? Just wondering the shape of the magnet you put in there?

Thank you!!! I've been using my old Mr Coffee since I've had this problem. I found what you described and cleaned out the rust. I broke a piece off of a small industrial magnet (wear safety glasses when breaking strong magnets) and epoxied it in place. It works great! The clock still can't be set though. I have to unplug it at midnight.

I had the same problem. I bought some 6mm OD x 2mm magnets and stacked 3 of them to fit in the hole. So, if you can get a 6x6 mm cylindrical magnet that would probably fit perfectly.

How does the drip stop work? Do you need to put something magnetic in there for it to activate?

完成的

It does need magnetic material to work. I took a paper clip end and cleaned the rust off the existing magnet. (I have a KATZCO Magnetizer/Demagnetizer for screwdrivers and such). I used it to "re-magnetize" the original magnet in the "arm" that protrudes up inside of the Brew Basket. We will see if that fixes it.

It could be as simple, especially for the newer models, that the lever on basket has been moved. I've had this coffee nar for a few months and my husband took the filter and basket out to clean it good. I got up to make coffee and the the stop drop light was on and the machine wouldn't brew. Oh Lord! I never noticed the lever on the basket. Just slide it to the left and all will be right with the world once again.

That exact thing happened to me. Its my bosses Ninja so I'm just getting used to it. We all are. I washed it on Friday then came on Monday and the cleaning guy couldn't turn it on. It kept beeping and showing the stop drip light. Nooo! I knew it had to be because I took out the filter holder. So I came across this womans post. I kept saying what lever! Its at the bottom of the filter holder. Ohhh. Thanks alot for posts like this.

I never noticed a lever either, my Ninja wouldn’t brew and the stop brew light was blinking and beeping. At 5:00 AM I need my coffee. So I did what everyone does turn to the internet! There was my answer..I never noticed that lever before, thanks for the heads up! Coffee is brewing!

@Tina Ortega Thank you so much. I'm eternally grateful for you lol. Need my coffee!

Was honestly a little panicked. Thought I broke it somehow.

had same problem….. i fixed mine. there is a magnet that triggers the stop drip sensor… take apart drip tray.. one small phillips screw.. the magnet is on the end of plastic .. bend it outwards.. heat would help bend plastic.. blow dyer.. this puts magnet closer to the edge of drip tray.. when apart, you can put magnet on sensor and light goes out.. this easy trick will make coffee again…. = >

Take the basket out. Unscrew the screw at the bottom making sure the spring and screw is safe. Wiggle the bottom part out . At the top of the stalk will be a rusted magnet could be covered in coffee. Prise it out and clean the hole. Buy little magnets (round and v small) stick it back with a thread lock and sealant.

My issue wasn't that magnet - it was the magnetic reed switch inside the body of the coffee pot. I'm going to try and replace that part SKY-PS-23L. The magnet was a bit rusty after 5 years, but it was still relatively strong.

I also discovered the magnet completely rusted out.

I taped a small piece of strong magnet to the bottom of the sensor then the light went out. It is a fix to allow coffee to brew; however, if I ever accidentally closed the drip stop I won’t know it is closed because the constant magnet on the sensor will allow coffee to flow through.

Put magnet where it should go...

Bend plastic rod closer to the sensor..

You have to take filter basket apart...

Took mine apart and I’m not even seeing a magnet. I think I found a rectangular flat one in the sink a week ago. Where does it belong, on the long plastic rod on the drip stop, in the basket assembly? Where is the sensor located that it needs to be close to? Thanks!

I have the same issue. I attemted to replace the springs, however this is not the issue. The issue seems to be a drip stop malfunction. I did try to take it apart, however, with little success.

This is happened to me and it took me 2 days to figure out what is the problem.

The lever in the Basket does not have enough magnet. I just put a magnet outside the basket and it switched off the drip off sensor. Problem fixed.

Come someone PLEASE post a picture of where this magnet/sensor is! I'm at the mercy of this coffee system, works when it feels like it. The spring popped out a while back, but I don't think that's the problem. Tried disassembling the basket, cannot figure out where the sensor is.

Thank you!

I also had this problem. I couldn’t get the rusty magnet out, but found an easier solution. I used a round metal magnet with a hook, removed the hook, and then screwed the magnet and metal housing under the part of the machine that detects the magnet (the ‘ridge’ that protrudes out under the dripper). I found that putting the magnet as far back as possible (at the elbow) works the best; if it’s closer to the basket it doesn’t work. Works perfectly and the magnet doesn’t look ugly; can barely notice it’s there.

I think this is what May and barilauto are describing, but for me the drip stop still works correctly and I don't have to tap it to get it to work. The placement location of the magnet might be the key. I played around with different locations while the machine was running. If you put in the middle it's hit and miss.

Doubt I will buy this brand again unless they fix this problem. They could have easily sealed the magnet in the arm so that this doesn't happen.

This is not a helpful suggestion, but I am getting rid of my Ninja. I have had too many issues with it. I have gone through a cleaning cycle that would not end, to the coffee brewing a few seconds and the end cycle would appear, to now this issue with the drip stop. To solve the problem right now, I just hold down the basket and stand there while my cup of coffee brews. I only make one cup, but this would really be a bother if I had to hold the basket for a whole pot of coffee. I am hanging onto it until my new coffee maker comes in. Then I am putting my Ninja on the street(trash) with a sign stating that it will work, but needs some repair with the drip stop. Ninja really needs to make some improvements on its system. We should not have to resolve issues with this coffee maker so often especially considering its cost at purchase.

Don’t fiddle with the base at all. Take apart the basket and find the rusty and weakening magnet. I rigged up a way to strap in a thin but stronger magnet to the post that holds the old and rusty one. I think it’s a good idea to experiment a little to be sure your magnet is strong enough to close the switch when in-line with the detector, but not so strong that it keeps the switch closed when it moves away just a centimeter or two.

I just got the Ninja coffee maker a few months ago ( I realize this post is from 2018) and had the same problem. Turns out that on the bottom of the drip basket you will see a little lever. I thought this was to swing the basket in and out. Not so. This is a switch that shuts off the drip, lighting up the no drip indicator light. Just pushed the switch back and voila coffee burning. Simple little mistake.

There is a small magnet 6mm dia inside the brew head (filter cup) which goes rusty and disintegrates.

Solution: buy a 6mm dia magnet no longer than 6mm (from amazon) and replace.

Repair procedure: Slide brew head from machine. On the bottom in the middle is a screw holding the drip lever, undo and take out the componant and the long thin arm has a magnet in it . Probably rotten remove with tweezers and insert new one. Maybe with a little bit of glue.

Reassemble.

Job done.
