What is the best way to adhere home button to new screen?

I have replaced the broken screen/digitizer on my ipad 4 mini, however I am trying to find the best way to attach the home button to the new screen. The home button is still affixed to the flexible gasket, and the flex gasket is still attached to the flat washer-type piece that adheres to the glass, so I just need to attach the washer piece to the glass. I need something thin enough to keep the button flush to the surface (not sunken in the hole of the new glass), yet strong enough to hold for the long term. I'm afraid if I use glue, it will stick the sides of the button to the glass. and not allow it to move at all.

I also need a solution for the worn out adhesive on the button bracket. Not sure if I should use the existing tape to hold it place and glue around it or scrape off the tape and start with something new.

I like to use quality adhesive for the bracket. You have to clean off all the old adhesive to insure you get good grip. If the bracket holds firmly, even the residual adhesive on the gasket and washer will suffice. I use the pre-cut templates from BowlerTech. I specifically get the bulk kits that include the extra tape that was not trimmed so I can make a custom cutout for the mini 4 bracket. BowlerTech also offers the extra trimmings separately. Or you can use Tesa Tape sold here on iFixit but you have to buy a whole reel.

You typically use a special double sided tape used to adhere to screens and other items. Here is an example.
