TV Screen Broken? after Main Board Replacement

I have a Vizio P65-C1. I've had problems of HDMI ports being blown out - some kind of electrical problem in my apartment. This has happened several times (not really the issue right now). After the first time, Vizio replaced the main board and worked fine for several months before blowing out again. I was just using the one HDMI port getting by with a HDMI splitter.

The TV got stuck updating at 20%. Vizio support was no help and my TV is out of warranty now. I tried everything I could find online and can think up. Anyways, I replaced the main board because I figured that would fix the HDMI ports and maybe the update problem. Nope. Upon hooking it back up I see the picture is all distorted, even the Vizio boot up logo. Picture was fine when stuck on the update. I was extremely careful replacing the mainboard. Could it be as simple as a loose connection? I checked everything twice. Is there anything else I could replace or is this TV toast? See picture below

@dbett4 hat does not look like a typical panel error. Why would you have tried to update (firmware I guess) Where did you get the replacement board from? Post some good images of all of your boards with your question. that way we can see what you see. Use this guide for that 在已经存在的问题里加入图片

@oldturkey03 thanks for the reply. The TV tried to update automatically. I got the replacement board from tvpartstoday.com. I tried reconnecting everything and made sure everything was plugged in correctly. I'm going to RMA the board, but I'm not confident it's a faulty board.

@dbett4 this "Picture was fine when stuck on the update." makes me think that the issue is somewhere else besides the panel. If you still have your old board can you connect it and let us know what that shows?

@oldturkey03 put the old board back in. Screen is perfect. Wasn't stuck on the automatic update this time so I went to the menu and started the update. Update got stuck at 20% again though. Not sure if there's a way around this. Maybe disable auto update for now if that's an option?

I'll RMA the board so I can have 5 fully functioning HDMI ports again. Hope the new board will update without a hitch.

@dbett4 great! good to know it is not your panel. Let's see how to turn of the auto update. See if this will work for your model:

To enable or disable automatic updates:

1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed.

2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the TV icon and press

OK. The TV Settings menu is displayed.

3. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight Time & Local Settings and press OK.

4. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight Auto Update.

5. Use the Arrow buttons to change the setting to Enable or Disable.

6. Press EXIT.

Or try to press the Menu button on the remote, open Settings, highlight Smart Interactivity and switch it to off.

Last but not least you could try in setup to delete your network data. check the user manual for more info on that.

Look very carefully at all the connections/ribbon cables at both ends of where they plug in. If you're not finding anything there, I'd lean towards the replacement board being fauty
