@ee_major you can only get files off your phone if you get your phone to start up. You cannot retrieve anything from a dead board since the memory is a soldered part of the motherboard and cannot simply be placed onto another board.

So when the board is dead, the chip is dead? Is it possible to remove the chip and put it on a working board to get the info off of it?
Since full disk encryption is mandatory on Android 6.0 and above, it is not likely you get any readable info either a chip-off or replacing it on to another board. The chip itself is a BGA95 style chip and would require you to have the right tools and some really good skills to accomplish the transplant. If the data is very vital to you I recommend you try one of the many data recovery companies out there.

Maybe the charging port is the issue? Perhaps the contact is loose and a lot of heat gets produced when all the charging current must go through a small area.
