How to change timing chain

My car lost all combustion and died on the side of the road and I had it diagnosed as a broken timing chain. Yes, it is a chain not a belt. I need simple steps to put it back into time after I get the new parts. I also know I need to replace the water pump as well and it ran bad egr codes.
