Compatible SSD Drive other than OWC
Are there any compatible SSD Drives available for the Mac Pro other than the expensive OWC Drive?
I would like to upgrade mine to 1TB SSD.

Sadly, other than finding a used Apple SSD, OWC is it!
We tried looking for an Apple SSD for our first two systems of the three SSD's we tried to buy off the web only one worked but it was the wrong size from what we ordered!
The larger Apple SSD's are very difficult to locate as they are a custom part. We now order the 1 TB version of the system and don't mess with the internal drive any more.

Okay, I understand. Do you have experience with the OWC one? Is there a reason you do not use OWC and use the Apple one that comes with the Mac Pro?
At the time OWC didn't offer their SSD so we had no choice.

At this writing (late 2018), MCE Technologies at store DOT mcetech DOT com has a range of 3rd-party replacement SSDs for the Mac Pro up to 2 TB. I got their 1 TB (non-NVMe) version quite some time ago to replace the original 256GB Apple SSD, and it dropped right in with no hassles. The drive shows up in System Information as a Kingston SHPM2280P2/960G.
If I were to do it again today, I’d get the 2 TB NVMe version.
I have also seen genuine Apple OEM SSDs on eBay. One vendor is Bloomax. MCE’s are cheaper and claim to be every bit as fast as OEM.
