This device is a single-speed handheld router designed for woodworking. The original 690 router has been around since 1973, and since then minor improvements have been made.
Most likely there is something lodged in the internal mechanisms of your router that is causing it to jam. I would start by following the guide on this device page for getting to the brushes and make sure they are cleaned of any large pieces of debris.
