Hi, I've had a look at the photos for all macbook bodies and found the Macbook 13inch mid 2010 photos. But after opening up the back of my macbook, I can't find the 2 square terminals you describe.
In the area described I can't find 2 square terminals positioned vertically.
The 2 photos show the back of my macbook. If you can, be grateful for someone to point out where the power-on pads are.

@macnick looks like this board has had plenty of water damage. You do want to take care of that before you try anything else. There is enough corrosion on the board to shorten out plenty of components. Anyhow attached image shows the Power-On pads. Check the corrosion inside your connector as well. Disaster waiting to happen :-)

thanks for this. what you can see is damage from spilt tea. when I opened it up after drying for a day, there were very small traces of liquid but as you say, it's already done a lot of damage.
do you think it's worth getting another board?
If I can rescue this mac, I'd like to but not if is going to cost too much.

@macnick you could clean it with some high grade isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Check the components carefully and do not forget about your connectors. After that I'd check to see what it does. If you can get a new board for some decent money, I'd go that route. It is all a matter of economics. How much money do you have and how much do you want to spend? Set a limit and do not go over that.....

I've carefully & throughly cleaned the circuit board and also the connectors.
Then tried jump starting the mac using the power on pads - but the mac still won't power on.
I'm thinking of installing a new MagSafe Board as there is still some corrosion / evidence of burning on the outside facing connectors.
