Why can't I get the screen to show anything, no light
I power up this laptop, but I can't get the screen to light up? This was a laptop given to me by someone. I have no information about the laptop, or it's fuctions.

Ronald Abney you need to start off by connecting an external monitor and see if that comes on. If it does you know you are having issues with your LCD. If it does not you are having trouble with the GPU circuitry on your DV7 (not uncommon). You can download the users as well as the service guide for your computer from here.
