Is this not possible with some desoldering/soldering work?

In theory, if you have access to the physical location of the chip, knowledge of how that chip operates, locations on the circuit board for the memory address circuit traces, a good quality electronics workstation magnifier, an electronics grade surface mount micro soldering station and antistatic working area, and access to the correct added chip AND there is physical room to add / remove the chips, upgrading the T100TA just for the experience and challenge should be possible.

In the old days before ifixit, I upgraded my original IBM 64k PC motherboard to a whopping 256k system memory. However I had insider information from one of the circuit board designers at IBM with a very detailed step-by-step process that included drilling through two layers of the circuit board to expose the necessary circuit board land to solder onto the necessary new address line for the chips.

Start with locating IF the 2 gigs of system memory is a separate chip and not built into the ATOM processor chip. If the system memory chip is external, find it and get the pin layout. Next the necessary addressing lines must be located. This is a 64bit ATOM that should be able to address at least 32 gigs of system memory, and if those addressing circuits are on the circuit board, they should be available to add to a larger memory chip provided there is room, and the address line added is kept as short as possible to the new chip.
