Is it possible to replace the trackpad?

My trackpad isn't working at all - I've fiddled with all the settings etc, but no joy.

I'm wondering can I at least take the batteries out (like in the earlier models with the iOpener) to check the zif connector, and hopefully, if necessary, to replace the trackpad...

Yes, I can fix it without destroying battery. But first tell us what happened.

My trackpad started acting up, the "click" started to not work - mainly on the right side; my predominant side. The left side still can "click." The right side still can initiate a click operation but with more force needed and there is no click. Is this a sign of impending failure of the trackpad?

Thanks in advance...

Yes you can change the trackpad but you have to get the battery's out and that is no fun task, (or to put them back) the best way is to get something to remove the glue under the battery's, heat won't do anything to the glue as the battery's are to thick... You may find this video useful;
