Remote Key lock not working
Remote of my key is not working i.e. automatic locking of the car using remote is not working. Have changed battery and also done the procedure mentioned in user manual
My 2009 ford focus was easy. Key in the ignition and turn it from 0 to 3 but without starting the engine 3 times quickly. It will then beep. Then u can press lock on your fob and both keys will work.
It's in the owners manual.
Turn key from 0 to 2 four times in quick succession. You will hear a beep. Press any button on fob. And hey presto (doesn't actually say hey presto, but it should)
turn key from 0 to ignition 4 times in quick succession, hear a beep, hold any button on the remote for 5 seconds and your should hear another beep, that's the key programmed, if you have more than one remote press the next remote in quick succession after the first one, they hold up to 4 remotes on memory. If after turning the key you don't hear a beep then the key needs to be programmed with the ecu via cables and extra equipment. failing this disconnect battery for half and hour and repeat, failing this try the link jayeff posted. the key also has a part inside the remote which wears out over time in which case you need to replace the key.
I sat for ages figuring this out... For my fob with doors closed and both front seatbelts plugged in I have to turn the key two clicks to position II four times in six seconds and then turn it to position O. What it didn't tell me was that I had to start at position O, turn the key to position II then back to position O... four times in six seconds, so you end on position O as it says in the handbook... Then you get your ding dong beep noise and press a button on all keyfobs to program.
Got to do it 8 times in 5 seconds to make it work on my 2011
Hi to all i try like a lot of other people for hours to figger this out but the only way to over come the problem is to replace the GEM / FUSEBOX if you are getting a second hand box then make sure that all the numbers match on the replacement one and that it comes from the same type of car and then it can be reprogramed by a garage with the right diagnostic equipment so it can control all the addons which the car as.
hope this helps !!
%#*!^@. I spent a LONG time writing USABLE instructions only to have them vanish because I’m using my phone!!!!
2010 Focus: this is pretty confusing so I’ll try… Have ALL Fobs present, ready to have a button pressed upon completion, or they’ll be deactivated after this.
Now, when you insert the key, this is Position 1! Forward two positions, is where you’ll want to cycle between AND end up…this is where the dash lights-up and one more position, you’re starting the car. Get used to that cycle, 1 to 3. Counting starts when you insert the key. Say “one”. Everytime you move to position 3, advance the count. So the first time you move the key forward TWO CLICKS say “two”. Back to Pos 1 and again to Pos 3, say “three” and so on. Using this method of counting, you’ll Stop when, at Pos 3, you say “eight” and chaos ensues as a thousand locks on a thousand cars lock/unlock over and over. When the shaking stops, Before you run for a change of clothes, press Any ONE button on the nearest Fob and every other Fob you gathered, or See. I don’t CARE who’s! When you see no more Fobs, turn the key back to Pos 1 and your locks will go crazy a second time, freeing you from this exercise and as you remove the key, you’ll Level Up in life. Promise. Get it? Okay. Now open and close your door. Press the UNLOCK button on the door. Ready? Key in, “one” …good friggin Luck!!
Hi I’ve try all the above and none of them work so if you go up to the comment that i made under Jayeff about the gem box/fuse box that was the only way i got to fix it . by the way i spent a lot of time trying all the other ways before i ended up with changing the fuse box , for those who don’t know that the Gem unit is in side the fuse box so you can’t get to it or see it i suppose some clever person could take it apart and repair it but is not me !!
I hope that this helps all of you that have got frustrated with trying all of the other ways to fix this problem good luck !!
Hi Alife first of all you will have to get the key scand for output to see if it is putting out a signal if that is Ok then check all the fuses in all the fuse boxes nomator what they do if that doesn't work you will have to find someone with a good scanner that can read the security system in the fuse box there's no other way. i had to replace the fuse box when mine went wrong but i still at to tell the fuse box to accept the signal from the key you have also got a receiver in the headlining which might be a issue ? up by the interior light ? sorry i can't be of any more help i don't know where you live but i live in Nottingham England.
