HDD, RAM Change / replace

Hi!

I have bought a 2011 imac mid today.

I have tools to replace the hdd, ram and replace the dvd rom with an ssd.

But I have some questions:

1. I can use any type of HDD to replace the HDD? So I can put in it WD Green 2TB hdd?

2. I can use any type of SSD? (I am planning to use a 250 GB samsung ssd)

3. iMac using simple notebook memory? Or its a special ram type?

4. Bluetooth chip is integrated on the motherboard or Is there any way to replace with a bluetooth 4.0 ? Or is there any way to use bt 4.0 on this 2011 mid 21,5" iMac?

So the mark is nevermind? samsung / kingston?

I have seen some videos where guys replaced the BT card in 2011 macbook pro, and after the replace they can use the handoff and everything, which is avelable just in the new mac models.

And thats why I want to upgrade it too.. :)

And another thing... I have seen a video, where the video creator used the same heat detector from the old HDD, is it possible? So if i remove the old heat detector, and put it on the new one, it will works? So i dont need special cable to use it?

And Where can I buy a new sata cable, to connect the SSD? Beucase I have seen in the videos the power cable is different on the motherboard, but the data cable is the same like in a simple PC.

The brand of RAM is less important than the specs of the RAM. You should use a matched pair if you can.

BlueTooth on a MacBook Pro's is not the same in iMac's! As I stated you'll need to use a Dongle. Review this: Continuity Activation Tool for HandOff. I don't recommend doing this internally as you will likely damage things (besides being more costly)

Different series of iMac's use different setups. This series requires the adapter cable.

Let's see if we can work thought your questions here:

Your system uses 1333 MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 SO-DIMMs (204-pin) RAM. It can support 16GB by Apples specs but in truth it can support upto 32GB of RAM using 4 x 8GB RAM modules.
You do not need to swap out your optical drive to add in a 2.5" SSD unit. This system has a spare SATA port. Review this IFIXIT guide: Installing iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2428 Dual Hard Drive Kit
Yes, you can replace your 3.5" HD with a larger drive. But, you will need a special adapter as Apple uses a custom drive for its thermal management system. Here is the needed adapter: OWC In-line Digital Thermal Sensor for iMac 2011 Hard Drive Upgrade. You should follow this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2428 Hard Drive Replacement.

As to what drives to use, this system uses a 3.5 SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) hard drive. I would review the specs of the different drives as you do want one that does not run hot as then your systems fans will be pressed into service more often. This basically limits you to a 3/4 GB drives. As for the SSD you will need a 2.5" SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) unit. I would encourage you to get an external FireWire or Thunderbolt HD case to hold your current internal HD to make upgrading easier. You could also use a SATA to USB adapter but it's needlessly slow.

Without the OWC sensor you will get run away fans and the hard drive runs constantly.

Thanks for your answers. So i can use 4x8 gb any type of 1333 ddr3 ram module in it,like in notebooks. And what about the bluetooth?

There is RAM and then there is RAM. You need to use the ones I listed above (see specs) you can't just use any RAM for just any laptop.

Sadly, you can't upgrade the internal Bluetooth. You could use an external USB Bluetooth dongle though. What is your reason for upgrading the Bluetooth?
