How to remove and replace modem

My modem stopped working 2 years ago and I have had to connect to the Internet via the Ethernet cable, which works fine. I tried everything, reinstalling software etc etc and had various experts troubleshooting, but no one could find the reason. Last weekend I finally got around to doing something about going it and decided to replace the network card. I followed the video on how to remove and re-install a network card, it was easy. However, before removing the card I noticed that quite a lot of the contacts were visible and I wondered if perhaps the card was not fully inserted. I wiggled about and it didn't move much, I just assumed that was how it was meant to be. I removed the card and wrote down the details from the label to help with ordering a replacement. Anyway, having satisfied myself with the knowledge that I could remove and replace the card I re-inserted the original card. I planned to go out and purchase a replacement next day.

Well, after reassembling the card and connections I turned the laptop on and lo and behold the yellow wireless modem light was on and I had full bars on the connection indicator. I opened up Internet Explorer and I found it was all working perfectly. Now, four days later and it is still working, I am so pleased it has been fixed. The problem must have been the incorrect fitting of the network card.

Anyway, the moral of the story is if your modem stops working try removing and re-installing it before shelling out for a new one!

Just a suggestion, the existing 5750 WiFi card is only a 2.4G with no Bluetooth, this card can be replaced with a WiFi/BT card, for the 5750 which is the "Qualcomm Atheros AR9462-AR5B22 - WiFi & Bluetooth" card and then you will have a 2.4/5G WiFi and Bluetooth also, which the 5750 didn't come with, these cards are very cheap and very easy to replace.
