Why a non-responsive digitizer but the LCD video is fine?

I dropped my phone and cracked the screen and the digitizer stopped working. I purchased a replacement LCD and digitizer. I installed the new component and the video was perfect however the digitizer was still unresponsive. I reopened the phone and re-connected all the connectors, but still no response from the digitizer. Is there a way to know that the digitizer I purchased is not faulty? Is there a second component that I should replace that could also have been damaged as a result of breaking the screen? Do I need to totally reset the phone in order for the processor to recognize the change? I only powered it down.

Any other suggestions wold be greatly appreciated.

I have successfully repaired 3 other phones, I'm not a total newbie.

rpcrev, over the last few years I received more display assemblies with non-working digitizers. There is really no good way to know ahead of time if it will, or will not, work. Unless of course you have a dedicated test phone that you know to be in good working condition and you could try it out. Personally I would contact the vendor and try a replacement first. There is always a possibility that there is damaged to the touch IC, but it is slim. There are some test points on your logic board that you can check if they have the proper voltage:

TP1=3.3v

TP2=1.8V

TP3=1.8V

TP4:1.8V

If those are within that range you are okay with your board. The touch control signals are generated by the MSM8974.

Hope this helps, good luck.
