1 RAM socket not working

Does anybody know if it's possible to replace the RAM sockets from the logic board, because the lower one stops working all the time. If I remove the lower RAM chip the Mac works perfectly on one chip. I tested other RAM memory, so I'm sure it's the socket bank.

Standard RAM: 4 GB Maximum RAM: 16 GB*

Details: 4 GB of RAM is installed as two 2 GB modules, no slots free.

*Apple officially supports a maximum of 8 GB of RAM, but as first confirmed by OWC, this model actually is capable of using up to 16 GB of RAM with two 8 GB memory modules.

According to how much RAM you think you need, I would simply use a larger module in the working port, either a 4 or an 8.

Thanks for your answer! If there's only one (larger 8GB) module in, doesn't it affect the performance of the Mac in comparison with 2 4GB modules?

Not really - would you drain or fill your swimming pool faster with one 8 in fire-hose or two 4 in garden hoses? The CPU can access one 8GB RAM faster than splitting data between two smaller chips.

It may be possible that you have a bad solder connection. If you have the patience and skill, you could reheat the solder points seen on the back side of the socket. But you must be sure that you do not accidentally bridge any of the connections. I think that the safest way to do this would be to follow the logic board guide for your model found here to remove the logic board first. Be sure that you have the proper tools and an ESD safe surface to work on.
