4 Isopropyl alcohol in LCD - will it go away?
Hello,
I wanted to clean my iPhone with isopropyl alcohol today but obviously used too much of it.
It has gone inside and I think it's somewhere between the backlight and the LCD.
It's 99,99% alcohol.
When the phone is turned on it shows stains as you would see if you put water on two panes of glass and press them together.
Also some parts are brighter, some darker.
My question is if I need to replace the LCD assembly or if this "damage" will go away if I wait some time.
I would be grateful if you could answer my question.

Hey I was a dummy and accidentally did the same thing to my 4s today as well because I was in a quick hurry and didnt bother removing the logic board this time around... Most of the visible stained area went away, but a good deal still remains... Any tips on cleaning this out properly?

It's really, really difficult. I haven't even had a lot of luck soldering on a new backlight -- dust is very, very good at finding its way back there. Easiest way would be to replace the display assembly.

Fortunately, most of the alcohol evaporated and the dark stuff in particular is completely gone now... only have a few very bright dots now spattered along the top of the screen... curious if those will eventually go away as well after just being exposed to more heat potentially.

Shaun Brown, could be but most likely those are the impurities washed up from the alcohol. So they may be of the more permanent type ;-)
