Kenmore is a popular appliance brand commonly sold by Sears, but Sears does not manufacture any of the appliances themselves. Instead, they source that out and have other manufacturers make their appliances for them. Kenmore refrigerators are made by a variety of different manufacturers including LG, Electrolux, GE, and Whirlpool.

outlet trips after a while causing Refridgerator to turn off?

Hello

When I plug in my kENMORE 25361662101 it turns on and appears to be working, but then after some while it trips the outlet and turns off. I tested the outlet and its good and only have this issue when the refrigerator is plugged not with any other appliance! I realized there is no sound coming out it when plugged or turned on, (like a fan or motor? the outlet trips and doesn't stay on long enough to freeze or keep items cold. appreciate any suggestions. thank you all.

What sort of breaker is being tripped over current or earth leakage? Is the Fridge the only appliance on that circuit?

完成的

Mike H, sounds like your fridge could be drawing to many amps which will trip the breaker. How many amps on that circuit breaker?

see if you can post some images of the wiring as well as the components that you see. It is possible that you have a bad compressor run capacitor

Hello

thank you all for the questions, I m plugging in a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI, it is the only appliance.

Sounds like the amp off that circuit should be okay. Take a look at the compressor and the rest of the wiring. See if there is something obvious (I still go with a bad cap first;-)

You likely have a earth fault if the earth fault device is being tripped. Does the fridge have a butter keep in the door or other reason for wiring to go into the door? i have seen wiring in the hinge fail causing intermittent shorts to occur. The other possibility is a faulty capacitor on the compressor. With the fridge disconnected from the power measure the resistance between the earth pin and active and neutral wires. There should be an open circuit ( very high resistance). The best way to do this is with a Megger meter which will properly test the insulation/isolation between the earth and the active and neutral wires.

I have the same issue. There is a sound coming from the door when it's turned off the breaker. We have checked everything such as heating element and compressor and fuse as well. How can I fix the issue in the door?

Replace the GFCI with a regular receptacle.

Maybe I didn't say it right. The 10A GFCI is ON the Square D breaker in the breaker box. The receptacle itself is a regular receptacle. Someone mentioned the breaker could have gone bad and just to try replacing it with a 15A GFCI breaker. Not sure if this is a good idea, but makes sense if it was tripped for the first time in years (house is 23 yrs old) , maybe that's why it wont hold now but was working fine before the trip. I've got it with extension cord plugged into another regular circuit with regular 10A breaker and no issues leading me further to believe its just a bad GFCI breaker... ?

Normally refrigerators are plugged into 20Amp receptacles fed by a 20Amp dedicated circuit breaker to eliminate any light flickering or fluctuations on t. v. or computer screens. Yes the breaker could be bad, but to avoid future problems I would put it on a 20Amp dedicated circuit.

As an Electrician I urge people not to plug the refrigerator into a GFCI.

Use a regular receptacle on a 20 amp breaker dedicated to the refrigerator.

Compressor start voltage can trip GFCIs.

So I think this is the issue. It's on a 10A GFCI breaker in the Garage. It was working fine with no issues for months until I may have gotten an outside outlet on the same circuit wet or just coincidence. Now it trips immediately, UNLESS I turn the Fridge setting to 0, and plug it in. It then doesn't trip until I turn fridge setting up which I believes starts compressor. I wonder why this just started after working for months?
