Unforunately, when an appaliance repair person came (I hoped to simply replace the float switch) he explained that the power module was broken (as the link I posted for error code E05 suggested). Apparently codes E05 and E5 have different meanings:
For anybody else with issues invloving a Bosch Dishwasher
Error code for ***E5*** is for the float switch which can be purchased here: https://www.reliableparts.com/product/inv_12226966
Error Code ***E05*** is for the power module which is difficult to replace and is usually very expensive (repair quote was $580 for a $900 dishwasher).
The repair man did restart the system for me (https://howtofixit.net/bosch-dishwasher-error-codes-and-what-they-are-means) and then this dishwasher ran for 1 cycle and then subsequently died and I was not able to enter service mode. Likely this is a computer error, but since it will take around a week to get parts (and possibly have to replace other components as well) this dishwasher is going to be replaced...
