Device Won’t Charge

ZTE Axon 7 is not charging.

Charging Cable is not connected properly.

Make sure the charging cable is completely connected to the device, the power adapter, and the power outlet.

Faulty Charging Cable

Test the charging cable that does not charge the ZTE Axon 7 mini by charging a different device that both uses a USB-C and you know is able to charge. If the other device begins charging, your charging cable is not faulty. If the device does not start charging, it is most likely that your charging cable is the culprit, and you should replace it.

Wrong Power Adapter

Make sure you are using the same Power Adapter that came with the Axon 7 mini. If you don’t have it, make sure you use one that is rated 5V/ 3A (5 Volts and 3 Amps).

Faulty Charging Port

If the device won’t charge, and you know your cable and power adapter are working, the issue may be with your charging port (located at the bottom of the device). Make sure there is no dirt or other gunk that might prevent the charger from connecting to your device. Use compressed air, or in extreme cases, a small cleaning brush and scrape the bottom of the charging port. Connect the charging cable and see if your device is charging. If not, there might be something more seriously wrong with your charging port, and you should look at our guide for how to replace the charging port on the ZTE Axon 7 mini.

Battery Is Dead

If your battery is dead, and your device will not respond, you replace the battery.

Device Will Not Hold a Charge

Device will lose battery at an unusually fast rate.

Active Background Applications

Background applications that are not closed may drain the battery faster than expected. To make sure that all background applications are closed, go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > All Apps. Once you are there, navigate to and tap on the slider labeled to “Background Activity”. Do this for all applications that are not required for the device to run.

Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location

If you don't need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or location data, disabling these features can help preserve battery life. To turn these off, swipe down from the top of the screen where the service bar resides. A list of will appear, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location Information icons; to turn them off press on their respective icons.

Faulty Battery

If the battery is not holding a charge for the expected amount of time, there is a chance that the battery itself is faulty due to a number of factors. Things cause a battery to be damaged include water damage and time related wear. If the battery is beyond repair, replacement may be the best option.

Touchscreen is not Responsive

No response or intermittent responses from the device when using the touchscreen.

Screen is not Recognizing Touch Input

In the case that the phone isn't recognizing touch inputs, attempt to restart the phone. To do this, hold down the power button and the volume button until the screen turns off and wait for the phone to restart.

Screen is Frozen

If the screen is frozen you will need to reboot the phone, you do this by holding down the power button and the volume down button simultaneously; this will reboot the phone.

Damaged or Faulty Screen

Usually, identifying that the screen is damaged can be fairly straightforward. Screens that are displaying images that make no sense, ie. rows of pixels stuck on one color, half the screen showing, or nothing showing on the screen at all. One of the issues that could be responsible for such problems could be that the LCD screen that lies under the glass of the phone is damaged. There could also be a bad connection with the display cable that connects the screen to the rest of the phone.

Phone Will Not Turn On

The device will not power on.

Battery is not Charged

Charge the battery for at least 30 minutes.  Then, press the power button to turn on the phone. If after more than 1 hour or charging, the device still does not power on, your phone might have a dead battery.

Battery is Dead

If you have come to the conclusion your phone’s battery has died, you may need to replace the battery.

Phone is in "Rebooting Loop"

If your device will power on, but encounters one of 2 problems

1. Your phone is stuck on the booting

2. Your phone reboots after the booting screen disappears

In order to fix this, try to perform a Soft Reset on the device by pressing down and holding the power button and volume buttons at the same time. If this doesn’t work, your only option might be Replacing The Motherboard.

(Keep in mind that the the motherboard is not a modular component of the device, the motherboard is essentially the heart of the device. When replacing the motherboard of a smartphone or other proprietary devices, it may be prohibitively expensive, and the motherboard of the device often is not available for purchase online unlike modular components. Due to this, it might be more efficient and cost effective to simply buy a new phone instead of replacing its motherboard)

Phone Not Producing Sound

No audio from the bottom speaker or attached sound devices.

Unstable Bluetooth Connection

Make sure the external Bluetooth device is turned on. Check the wireless connection to the phone by going into Settings>All Settings>Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth switch to the "on" setting. Make sure the device is paired, connected, powered on, and close enough to the phone. When audio is playing, ensure the volume is turned all the way up on the phone and on the device (if the wireless audio device has separate volume controls).

Faulty Bottom Speaker

When sound is playing, press the ‘up’ volume key (located on the top half of the long volume button located on the right side of the phone above the power button) in order to turn the volume up. If sound plays, but has a distorted "crackling" sound, the phone’s speaker might be the problem.
