Shark NV352 Troubleshooting

The vacuum won't power on.

If the vacuum isn't turning on, it may be because of the on/off button. Often, the user can solve the problem by simply verifying if the on/off switch is turned on. If pressing the button to the on position doesn't work, the switch may need to be replaced.

If the on/off switch is on, but the vacuum still won't turn on, make sure your vacuum is plugged into a functioning outlet. You can easily check the power connection by wiggling the cord to make sure it does not fall out. Also, if one outlet in your home doesn't work, try plugging it into a different outlet.

If the vacuum won’t turn on, it may be because the cord is malfunctioning. The cord could be cut or damaged, preventing power from reaching the vacuum. You may have to purchase a new power cord for the vacuum.

If the vacuum gets too hot, it will power off automatically. The vacuum will not power on due to an integrated thermostat. Allow the vacuum to cool from the overuse and try again. To reset the thermostat, follow these steps:

1. Turn the switch on the vacuum to off.

2. Unplug the vacuum.

3. Wait 30-45 minutes for the vacuum to cool down.

4. Plug in the vacuum and turn it on to start again.

The vacuum is on, but will not pick up dirt or other debris.

If your vacuum is on, but will not pick up dirt, then the filters may need to be cleaned out. The Shark NV352 has two filters that may require cleaning. Remove the dust cup and take out the filter from underneath it. Then, to remove the HEPA filter, take off the front of the vacuum by lifting the hatch that holds it in place. Then take both filters and run them under water until the water runs clear. Let them dry before returning them to vacuum. If the vacuum won’t pick up dirt, the most likely reason is that the dust cup is full. When the dust cup fills, the vacuum can no longer suction and hold dirt or debris. Regularly check and empty the dust cup to keep the vacuum collecting dirt.

Sometimes, a vacuum won't pick up dirt because the hoses are blocked by debris. Separate the hoses from the vacuum and visually inspect them for blockages. Also check the area where the dust bin connects to the vacuum, as dirt can accumulate there too.

If suction no longer occurs, the suction motor could be at fault. The suction motor is found inside the suction chamber and can be replaced if desired. For help replacing the motor, use our Roller Brush Motor Replacement Guide.

The vacuum is powered on, but the brush is not rotating.

If the roller brush is not turning, then the vacuum might not be on the correct brush setting. Check the switch, which is located on the back of the dust canister. This switch can be in three different modes, so make certain it is switched to the “II - Brush Roll On” position.

If some type of material is caught in the roller brush’s path of rotation, it may prevent rotation. Remove the brush, clean it, and put it back. The vacuum is turned on, however, there is a loss of suction.

If your vacuum is on, but will not pick up dirt, then the filters may need to be cleaned out. The Shark NV352 has two filters that may require cleaning. If the vacuum's airflow is restricted, check the hose for blockage. Buildup from using the vacuum can occur and is easily removed. Remove the hose attachments and then remove the material. Regularly check the hose for such occurrences.

If the vacuum has no suction, it could be because the vacuum attachments are not fully connected to one another. Any gap between parts would allow all suction to escape. Examine the connections on the main hose and the suction shaft, reconnecting them if necessary.
