The Shark ION Robot S87 does not turn on

After flicking the power switch, the device does not function

Uncharged battery

Make sure that the device actually made it to the charging dock and was able to fully recharge from its’ last use. If the Shark ION Robot S87 regularly has this issue, try placing the charging dock in a more central location.

Battery unplugged

To check if the battery is installed correctly, remove the battery door and see that the battery is plugged in, and if not plug it in. To learn how to do this follow the battery replacement guide.

Battery is dead

If the battery is dead then you will need to purchase a replacement battery and follow the battery replacement guide.

Blocked suction motor

Your Shark ION Robot S87 is on and appears to vacuum, but suddenly the lights start flashing red or a suction motor error message is thrown on the screen.

Dirty filters

A common cause could be that the filters get dirty or blockages are in the way of the device. Remove the dust bin and make sure nothing is blocking the suction area. To have a clean filter, you will need to replace it with a new one by following our replacement guide.

Loose Trash Tray and Bumper

The trash tray or bumper might not be properly sealed or assembled. To fix this issue, disassemble the trash tray and reassemble it by putting it back so that it clicks and it is secure. If the issue still persists, open up the bumper device and check if any miscellaneous items are stuck.

The main brush does not rotate

The main brush doesn’t rotate when the device is in operation.

The main brush is jammed

You will need to remove the brush and clear any blockages to fix this. To do this, remove the Brushroll door and then take out the main brush and remove any debris, then reinstall the main brush and put Brushroll door back on.

Unresponsive device

The device works perfectly for a few minutes and stops running. Sometimes, it throws an alert sound.

False alert sounds

False alert sounds can occur due to blockages, dirty sensors, or full trays. This can cause the device to stop running. Proceed, to unplug the battery charger and turn off the robot. Then, plug the charger back and turn the device on to reset it.

Dirty sensors

Miscellaneous items, hair, or objects can tamper with the sensors in the device. Clean the 3 sensors located under the small front wheel, however, be careful when taking apart the front wheel as little clear washer on the wheel rod is fragile. If the previous steps did not work, remove the end of the brush and proceed to empty the pin. To clean the sensors behind the bumper, remove the bumper and wipe the sensors with a dry cloth.

Device does not move

When in operation the device does not move.

The drive wheel is broken.

If the device’s drive wheel is broken then it will need to be replaced. To fix this follow the repair guide.
