Disc Tray Stuck
You cannot open or close the tray because it is stuck.
Software Glitch
Your tray may have become locked due to a software malfunction. To unlock the tray, press the stop button on the front of the device to put it in a suspended state, and then press 4-8-7-2-3 on the remote. You will get a “lock-off” message in the top left corner of the display the player is hooked to. Press the eject button on the device or remote to eject the disc.
Hardware Malfunction
If it is a hardware malfunction causing the stuck tray, you can fix it by completing a power cycle reset. In order to do this, pull the power cord from the outlet the player is plugged into, and hold the power button the device for 30 seconds. After this time, reconnect the power cord to the outlet.
Loose Objects in Player
There is a chance that loose debris has accumulated in the player and is causing the tray to stick. If you can see any objects blocking the tray’s path, clear them and try to open it again. If it still will not open, you will need to open the player and clean it out from there.
Disc Causing Block
This symptoms of this problem would include being able to possibly close the tray, but then you would be unable to open it. In order to test this problem, you will need to open the case and move the tray in and out manually. If a disc is used to test this problem, it may be damaged during manual operation.
Wi-Fi Connection Problems
The device will not connect to Wi-Fi or keeps dropping the connection.
Incorrect Login Credentials
Make sure the Wi-Fi you are attempting a connection to is the correct network. Also, check to make sure you are using the correct username or password for that network if the network requires it.
Router/Modem Off
Confirm that the router and modem are both on. Typically a router, the output of Wi-Fi signal, will have multiple antennae coming from the body of the device and will be directly connected the modem, a device that looks like a brick and will usually have many flashing lights. If these devices are off, turn them on. If they are already on, you can restart them by pulling the power cords from the devices and waiting 30 seconds for additional charge to leave the device. Plug the cord back in and give the devices time to reestablish a network connection before attempting a connection to the player.
Weak Wi-Fi Connection
Check the Wi-Fi connection using a second device such as a phone or laptop. If the connection the second device is still weak in that area, you can use a Wi-Fi range extender or Ethernet cable - network cable - to boost the strength to the player. Wi-Fi range extenders work by taking in a Wi-Fi signal and then amplifying it in all directions, increasing the range of effectiveness of the network. Ethernet cables will establish a direct connection to your router at typically faster speeds.
Faulty Network Card
Connectivity issues could also be caused a faulty network card/network adapter. You can check this by looking at the connectivity settings on the Blu-Ray player to see if there are any open networks available. If the player does not find any networks, it may be possible that the card has failed. As with the weak Wi-Fi connection, try connecting to the Wi-Fi on an additional device. If the device is able to find the network, then the network card has failed and will need to be replaced.
Disc Will Not Read
Device operates, but the display shows no disc or unreadable disc error.
Scratches on Disc Before Entering Player
There is a chance that the disc was scratched before it entered the device. Check the disc itself for any scratches before entering the device and exiting the player.
Loose Objects in Player
After time, dust and other debris can accumulate in the player. And while it may not block the tray from opening, it can still scratch a disc. In order to remedy this, open the disc tray and blast compressed air into the tray. This should remove any floating debris in the player. If the problem persists, opening the case and checking for larger debris is required.
Laser Malfunctions
It is possible that the moving laser in the device is contacting the disc and causing the scratching. Open the case and check to see if while the device plays a disc, the laser is contacting the disc. If it is, the player will require the replacement of the disc reader replacement.
No Audio from Player
No audio is present from the player or audio cuts out at points.
Bad Disc
The problem itself may not be the player, but rather a bad disc. Check to see if the problem persists while using a different disc.
Bad Speakers
The problem could also lie in the speakers. Check to make sure that both the speakers and TV are in fine working order by playing another disc or by trying a TV show for audio.
Bad Video Cord
If a video shows on the device without any audio, the problem is most likely cord related. Try a different HDMI cord to see if that fixes the problem. If this does not remedy the problem, check to see if the HDMI ports are damaged on either device.
No Video from Player
No video is present from the player or video cuts out at points.
Dirty Laser
As mentioned above, dust can accumulate over time in the player. If this is the problem, the laser may have become coated in dust and will not read discs properly. A dirty laser can lead to both bad audio and bad video and can be remedied by blasting compressed air into the opened case to remove dust and then carefully wiping the laser with a lint-free or microfiber cloth.
Failed Laser
The disc will not be read correctly or at all if the laser is broken. The laser will need to be replaced, and can be replaced according to the following replacement guide.
